AfroerotiK is always interested in highlighting the stories of other amazing writers. Once selected, your story will have a permanent home on AfroerotiK. You will retain the copyright, we seek no other rights than just to publish it on the site. If you would like the story removed at any time, all you need to do is send us an email requesting that it be removed. Erotic stories published on AfroerotiK must adhere to certain guidelines.
As much as it shouldn’t have to be said, your story must adhere to the basic rules of grammar. That means:
- It cannot be written in all caps
- It must be properly formatted with paragraphs
- It must use proper punctuation
- No phonetic spelling
- Spell check it before submission
Beyond that, there are certain guidelines that must be met before it can be considered appropriate for AfroerotiK.
- Stories should be between 1500-5000 words.
- We prefer stories that are written in third person narrative. AfroerotiK tells the tales of people of African descent, it’s not a blog or diary for you to describe your personal sexual encounters or fantasies. First person accounts will be considered if they exceed all other requirements.
- It must be written in the past tense (if it’s not, it has to be phenomenally well-written and it has to have some compelling and overwhelming literary reason that you utilized present tense. Please explain the use of present tense in your email and be prepared for rejection just in case.)
- The story cannot contain any references to homophobia, patriarchy, sexism, sex in exchange for money, objectification, slut-shaming, adultery, cheating, rape, bestiality, or the word nigger (or any phonetic spelling thereof)
- The story can be interracial but it must contain at least one main character of African descent who is, by definition, a central character who is not just a pawn or tool for someone else’s pleasure, who has their own opinions, drives, and motives, and who is in no way stereotypical, ghetto, or one-dimensional. Black characters cannot be colorless; they can’t be described as Black physically and then be characters that are without some sort of cultural identity or markers.
- We are not particularly fond of stories that are “urban”. If your story is nothing more than an thinly-veiled excuse to make reference to the latest, hippest car, drink, rap star, reality show, designer shoe, or slang, or makes reference to drug dealing, basketball playing, or anything ghetto fabulous, save your time and energy, that’s for another site. We want stories that showcase the complexity of Black folk. Yes, some Black people live in the hood, in fact, most are city dwellers but the story should be about the relationships between people, not their connection to material goods or fads.
- We welcome stories about any sexual orientation and gender.
- We do not welcome stories that glorify colorism. Worshipping light skin as some sort of sexual/aesthetic ideal is little more than slave mentality. Your characters can be any shade under the sun for the lightest of light to the darkest of ebony but any references of light skinned men or women being depicted as more attractive by mere virtue of their lightness will be rejected.
- AfroerotiK stories are about relationships, intimacy, emotional maturity, and connection. Stories about casual sex are not welcomed.
- We are not accepting submissions of poetry at this time.
That’s quite a few rules and it will eliminate quite a few potential submissions. That’s fine. These standards are what set AfroerotiK apart from the average Black erotica to make it exceptional. If your story comes close but misses the mark in maybe one or two tiny areas, we are always willing to work with you editing your story if you are open to it.
Good Luck!
All submissions should be emailed to fantasies at afroerotik dot com
